The La Grange School
Winner of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce 2006 Small Business of the
Year Award! What do the founders of Google.com,
Princes William and Harry, Jackie Kennedy Onassis, the founder of Amazon.com,
and Julia Child have in common? Answer: Their parents chose to send
them to Montessori schools. Choosing a school for your child is one of
the most important decisions you will make as a parent. At The La Grange
School we provide an environment based upon the Montessori method, an
educational approach physically designed to foster a child’s successful
learning experience. Part of academic achievement in a Montessori
environment includes a curriculum with emphasis on the development of
independence, confidence, and self-discipline - - a foundation for success
and a lifelong passion for learning. A Montessori education is based on the
philosophies, scientific studies and teachings of Italian physician Maria
Montessori (1870-1952). The Montessori approach to education embraces
individualized instruction for children with a structured curriculum using
specialized teaching materials. Our maximum student to teacher ratio is
twelve to one. The curriculum includes language arts, math (including
algebra and geometry), foreign languages (Japanese and Spanish), science,
history, geography, art, music and physical education. The Montessori
curriculum keeps students at the edge of their skill level at all times in
every subject area. In addition to academics, The La Grange School nurtures
the whole child with an emphasis on social, emotional, spiritual and
physical growth. Students of The La Grange School volunteer their help to
various community causes. Our children are dedicated and compassionate in
their desire to help others. We encourage a strong sense of place and love
of community that fosters responsible citizens for the future. On the
five-acre campus of the La Grange Presbyterian Church, children enjoy
spacious playing fields, gardening, bicycle paths, an outdoor classroom and
a cross-country track. We offer Early Childhood (Toddler)
through 6th Grade, and we are growing. We are excited to
announce the opening of our Middle School in the Fall of 2008! Also, our
summer program is a full-time day camp for children (Toddler through 9th
grade). The school wants to be a resource for working parents to give their
children a fun and educational option during the hectic summer months.
